Viking River Cruises is out to break records again with its latest order of a dozen new river cruise ships for delivery in 2015, including two specifically sized ships with shallow drafts to sail the Elbe River in the former East Germany. Viking is already Europe’s biggest river cruise line, having set the world record for christenings with 18 new vessels launched in five days in April. The Longships, as they’re known, have a unique layout that includes 39 suites that have full-size verandas in the living rom as well as French balconies in the bedroom. To add to the busy year, Viking also plans to launch its first ocean ship the 930-passenger Viking Star, in early 2015.
