When Carnival Triumph returns to service after a two-month, $200-million rebuild in the spring of 2019, it will be for all intents a new ship. That merits a new name and the ship will become Carnival Sunrise, a sister to Carnival Sunshine.

It’s an ambitious project that starts in March and will rip out and replace all the food, beverage and entertainment areas, as well as refreshing all the staterooms with island-inspired interiors with a mix of bright colors and pastels.

Restaurants will be reconfigured and re-branded, including family-style Italian Cucina del Capitano; Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse; Bonsai Express for casual sushi; Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que outdoor smokehouse and a JavaBlue Café. The Chef’s Table will add a new glass-enclosed dining venue in the forward dining room.

The poolside Lido Marketplace will add a Seafood Shack, The Deli and Pizzeria del Capitano and an expanded Swirls venue with complimentary ice cream and frozen yogurt.
Bar options will expand with a West-Indies themed RedFrog Pub; Piano Bar 88; the Punchliner Comedy Club Limelight Lounge and a new multi-purpose Liquid Lounge theater.

Sports areas will be expanded with a new suspended ropes course and WaterWorks featuring a 203-foot-long AquaTunnel slide and a 75-gallon PowerDrencher tipping bucket and kiddie area.

For those who want a more relaxed experience, a Serenity Adult Only Retreat will be added on an upper deck with chaise lounges, whirlpools and oversized umbrellas.

When Carnival Sunrise enters service in April 2019, it will do a series of cruises to Bermuda and the Caribbean out of Norfolk, Virginia and New York City before making Fort Lauderdale its home port in the fall.
